SHEA Core is the foundation qualification for anyone working on or visiting operational sites across the water, gas, power, telecoms and wider utilities sectors. Developed in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, it gives delegates a solid grounding in workplace safety, environmental responsibility and emergency procedures before they set foot on site.
It is required for full-time employees, temporary contractors and site visitors alike. Wherever operational site access is needed, SHEA Core is usually the minimum standard.
New entrants, labourers, support staff and site visitors who need general access to utility or construction sites.

SHEA Core takes one day and is delivered live online, so there is no travel and no time lost getting to a training centre.
No previous experience or qualifications are needed. You should be comfortable with spoken and written English, and for online sessions you'll need a computer or laptop with a webcam, microphone and a reliable internet connection.
Each module is assessed with a short multiple-choice test set by EUSR. Your trainer works through the content with you first, so you go into each assessment prepared.
Your SHEA Core registration is valid for 3 years. Book your renewal before it expires to keep your site access without a gap.
It gives you the baseline safety clearance, but it isn't a universal pass. Some clients and principal contractors also ask for a sector course such as SHEA Gas, Power or Water, a trade competency card or a site induction. Check with your employer if you're unsure.
Based in North Wales and delivering online nationwide, across construction, utilities and fire safety.
We focus on practical understanding you can apply on site, not just what's needed to tick a box.
Every course is led by CMIOSH-qualified trainers with real site experience in construction, utilities and the fire service.
