Course FAQs

Can't see your question? Get in touch and we'll help you choose the right course.

How long is the National Water Hygiene course?

National Water Hygiene is a half-day course, delivered live online.

Who needs a Blue Card?

Anyone entering clean water sites or carrying out restricted operations on the clean water network, including treatment works, reservoirs, mains and pumping stations. Water companies require it from their own staff and their contractors.

How long is the Blue Card valid?

National Water Hygiene registration is valid for 3 years. Renew before it expires to keep working on clean water sites.

Is it the same as SHEA Water?

No. National Water Hygiene focuses on preventing contamination and protecting public health. SHEA Water covers your own health, safety and environmental awareness on water sites. Many roles need both, and we can book them together.

What are the entry requirements?

You need a good understanding of spoken and written English. For online sessions you'll also need a computer or laptop with a webcam, microphone and a reliable internet connection.
